THE IMPORTANCE OF CREATIVE EDUCATION IN SOCIETY

Abstract

The word ‘creativity’ has come into widespread use in all areas today, largely due to the desire of companies and organisations to be more competitive and the need for schools to move students towards thinking-based learning rather than testing-based learning. Educators around the world are calling for greater emphasis on developing students’ creativity and imaginative abilities in the curriculum of all subjects taught in mainstream schools and believe that the effectiveness of educational reforms depends on the extent to which these competencies are developed. For example, the UK’s recent annual report concluded that the UK’s economic prosperity and social cohesion depend on the development of a national strategy for creative and cultural education [1].
