The article examines issues related to the need for priority spiritual and moral education in universities. The main categories are defined: spirituality, morality, spiritual and moral education, spiritual and moral values. The novelty of the study of spiritual and moral education in the system of higher education of Uzbekistan is due to the rethinking of old ideas and methods and the search for new concepts and methods in different social conditions, taking into account the changed system of higher education. The basis of education should be the spiritual and moral education of students as an unshakable foundation for building the temple of the human soul.
