Housing construction in Uzbekistan was one of the important sectors of the national economy and was based on socialist principles, with construction carried out mainly by the state. During the industrialization of the USSR, the emphasis was on industrial construction, so the volume of housing construction was small and a significant share of it was temporary housing, the so-called barracks. The article analyzes the problems of planning housing construction in Uzbekistan in the 1940-1960s.
