The article examines the link between corruption and the moral and ethical state of society, as pointed out by many researchers. For example, O.V. Damaskin writes: “The widespread prevalence of corruption primarily contributes to the moral decay of society, which, in turn, manifests itself in the socio-political and public spheres through fundamental emotions and instincts. If there is no comprehensive work among citizens on shaping the values of human dignity, everything turns into wealth, regardless of how it was acquired, and the main life principle becomes the accumulation of material goods by any means. The moral sphere is fundamental, and the author concludes: ‘Until radical changes occur in this area, the fight against corruption will remain ineffective, and the immoral foundation on which corruption is based, and which is tolerated by the majority, will remain unchanged”.
