This article examines the phenomenon of image-based sexual abuse (IBSA) as a form of digital violence in which visual materials of a sexual nature are created and/or distributed without the consent of the depicted individual. The author analyzes the legal and ethical dimensions of such actions, critiques the limitations of the term “revenge pornography,” and proposes a broader interpretation of the motives and consequences involved. The article explores in detail the definitions of “private” and “sexual” images and discusses the issue of consent in their creation and distribution. Modern forms of IBSA, including deepfakes and covert recording, are highlighted, and the necessity of a flexible and context-sensitive legal approach to such actions is emphasized.
