Abstract

This article examines the role and importance of language elements in developing intercultural communication competence in teaching English. The study analyzes methods aimed at enhancing students’ intercultural sensitivity by teaching culturally specific language elements – idioms, proverbs, phraseological expressions, and greetings. The article discusses the difficulties students face in understanding cultural language elements, ways to overcome these challenges, and the effectiveness of using authentic materials in the classroom. The findings highlight the significance of teaching language and culture together to enhance students' intercultural competence.
