ACTIVITIES OF THE CUSTOMS SERVICE OF THE TURKESTAN GOVERNOR-GENERALSHIP: KEY POINTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

This article examines the establishment of the economic and political order of the Russian Empire in Turkestan in the XIX century after the conquest of the khanates of Central Asia. The author relies on documents from the National Archives of Uzbekistan and the works of historians to analyse this period. Particular attention is paid to the comparative analysis method for comparing information from various sources. The results of the study show that the first feature of colonialism was changes in the economic sphere, and the customs policy of the Russian Empire in Turkestan reflected colonial policy and economic processes. Historical trade ties and dependence of the Bukhara Emirate and the Khanate of Khiva on the Russian Empire are also discussed. This article allows us to better understand the formation and activities of the customs service in the context of the colonial policy of the Russian Empire in Turkestan.
