THE CONTRASTIVE STUDY OF “NEAR – FAR ” OPPOSITION IN LINGUISTICS (in the example of english and uzbek languages)

This article provides information on the history and description of oppositions. Also, in the article, the theory of N.S. Trubetskoi was adopted as a methodological basis for the study of oppositions. The factual materials collected from English and Uzbek languages were classified based on this theory (time, distance, relationship, hypothesis, and place) and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the differences between the English and Uzbek languages have been revealed.
