This article examines the typology of female characters in the stories of L. Petrushevskaya. Women's literature is productive, interesting and insufficiently researched, it carries a special aesthetics of the word, a special vision of the socio-psychological and moral aspects of modern life, and a special style of writing. The study of women's prose and drama texts makes it possible to trace the evolution of images and aesthetic orientations of literary artists. Petrushevskaya’s world is a “wrong world”, gloomy, painful, not embellished with noble impulses.
