The article analyzes the legal foundations of international cooperation in criminal matters in the European region. Conventions adopted within the framework of the Council of Europe and the European Union, their additional protocols, and other legal documents are examined. The content of the main documents regulating issues such as extradition, mutual legal assistance, and transfer of criminal proceedings is revealed. The significance of regional documents such as the European Arrest Warrant and the Benelux Convention is also emphasized.
