This article analyzes the issues of ensuring the procedural independence of the investigator, in particular the legal basis of ensuring the procedural independence of the investigators. Also, the theoretical and practical aspects of improving the powers of the investigator were studied. In addition, on the example of the experience of developed countries, the issue of procedural independence of investigators was thoroughly studied from a theoretical and practical point of view, and suggestions and recommendations were developed for improving the existing legislation and law enforcement practice.
