LINGUOCULTUROLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EMOTIONS IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES

Abstract

This article presents a linguoculturological analysis of positive and negative emotions in Uzbek and English languages. The study explores the ways emotions are expressed in these two languages and cultures, examining their lexical-semantic features and cultural contexts. In Uzbek, emotions are conveyed in a figurative and poetic manner, whereas in English, they are expressed in a precise, concise, and neutral form. When expressing positive emotions, Uzbek employs metaphors related to the heart, soul, and spirit, while English predominantly uses images of light and warmth. Negative emotions, on the other hand, are conveyed indirectly and softly in Uzbek, whereas in English, they are expressed directly and explicitly. The research also analyzes the cultural codes and social contexts in which emotions are expressed. In Uzbek culture, emotions are often concealed or expressed in a softened form, while in Western societies, open and direct expression is preferred. These differences are linked to cultural thought patterns and mentalities. The study is relevant to the fields of linguistics, translation studies, psycholinguistics, and cultural studies, highlighting its importance in international communication and translation processes.
