This article analyzes the concept of the “lost generation” and its representation through the image of the literary hero in the works of E.M. Remarque. The author explores the psychological trauma of the “lost generation” after the war, their loss of faith in life, and their alienation from society. Through Remarque’s characters, the spiritual decline of humanity as a consequence of war is revealed.
