This article analyzes the legal basis of the activities of national human rights institutions. It examines the significance of national legislation, laws on national human rights institutions, the constitution, and other normative legal acts. The main principles of the activities of national human rights institutions are highlighted. The article assesses the role and importance of these institutions in protecting human rights. It also explains the essence of the concept of the right to liberty and security of person, national mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and their legal basis.
