Abstract

In a rapidly changing global trade system, a country’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) plays a crucial role in shaping international economic processes. Uzbekistan is a notable example, actively pursuing WTO membership while aligning its trade policies and regulatory framework with WTO requirements. This article analyzes trade protection measures, including anti-dumping and countervailing duties, which are essential for protecting Uzbekistan’s domestic market against unfair practices. The article further examines the definitions and regulations of these measures within the WTO framework and Uzbekistan’s legal framework, highlighting significant differences and the implications for Uzbekistan's trade policy. Case studies from the European Union illustrate the complexities involved in implementing these protective measures, underscoring the need for Uzbekistan to adopt best practices as it progresses toward WTO membership.
