PARTICIPATION OF AN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST IN INVESTIGATIVE ACTIONS IN CRIMINAL CASES

The article examines the role of information technology specialists in conducting investigative actions in criminal cases related to computer information. It emphasizes the necessity of involving experts with relevant technical knowledge, particularly in light of the growing number of cybercrimes and the adoption of new legislation regulating digital evidence. The author highlights the need to introduce IT-investigators as new actors in the criminal justice system, possessing specialized digital expertise, capable of extracting, analyzing, documenting digital evidence, and interpreting it for other participants in the criminal process. Particular attention is paid to the interaction between investigators, specialists, and experts, as well as the legal regulation issues regarding their competencies.
