Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of the meaning of female images depicted on the coins minted by the Greco-Bactrian kings. It is shown that, by applying various analytical methods, it is possible to determine whether the coins had political or religious significance. These coins, which exerted a considerable influence not only on the development of economic life but also on socio-cultural processes, are substantiated as an important material source for studying the history of the ancient period.
