The article reveals the art of mastering successful and experienced coaching skills. Prioritizing the pursuit of the athlete's long-term development reflects an important aspect of coaching philosophy. Attention to the development of an athlete leads to more optimal sports results than the striving for victory. In this case, competition is perceived as a method of measuring the level of personality development. Such a philosophy is usually described as follows: "First place - the athlete, victory - second place!"
