This article provides definitions of the concepts of information and information systems, their philosophical analysis, and examines the importance of information in the development of the state and society, its role in ensuring social stability. Information is also considered as a means of ensuring social stability, forming social consciousness, and strengthening the system of values. In such areas of modern philosophical concepts as informalism, information ontology, and information ethics, some aspects related to the information problem, the information policy of the new Uzbekistan, and information security are analyzed.
