FEATURES OF THE STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF HYDRONYMS

This article examines the structural and semantic characteristics of hydronyms, focusing on their morphological models, lexical-semantic layers, and etymological origins. Hydronyms, as an integral part of toponymy, preserve valuable information about the history, culture, and linguistic development of the peoples of Central Asia. The study analyzes the influence of Turkic, Persian-Tajik, and Arabic elements in the formation of Uzbek hydronyms and identifies the main structural types such as adjective + noun, noun + noun, and affixal formations.
Furthermore, the semantic classification of hydronyms is proposed based on color, physical features, spatial attributes, and ethnocultural factors. The research is based on structural, semantic, and ethnolinguistic methods. The findings contribute to the broader understanding of the linguistic landscape of Uzbekistan and the cultural memory reflected in hydronymic systems.
