This article examines the characteristics of quartz utilization during the Paleolithic period and traces the history of its study within the broader context of global Paleolithic research. The paper elucidates the principal scientific approaches and the evolution of scholarly perspectives concerning the use of quartz in lithic industries. Particular attention is devoted to the analytical methods applied to quartz assemblages and to the prospects for employing these approaches in the investigation of Paleolithic industries from archaeological sites in Uzbekistan.
