THE CONCEPT OF ANTHROPOCENTRISM IN LINGUISTICS AND CULTURAL STUDIES

The article analyzes the philosophical roots of the concept of anthropocentrism and its interpretation in linguistics and cultural studies. Based on the fact that anthropocentrism is an approach that considers man as the center of the universe and the main criterion of all research, the stages of this concept's entry into the humanities, in particular linguistics, are shown. The relationship between the comparative-historical, systemic-structural and anthropocentric paradigms within modern linguistics is highlighted, and the need to study language from the perspective of "language in man and man in language" is emphasized. It is also shown that such areas as cognitive linguistics, linguoculturology, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology are inextricably linked with the anthropocentric paradigm. The article analyzes the centrality of the human factor, the functional-pragmatic approach, semantic and cognitive centrism, interdisciplinarity and the centrality of text and speech as the main principles of the anthropocentric approach, and highlights the methodological foundations that serve to interpret language in conjunction with thought and culture.
