This article examines the literary function of court and investigation motifs in works of realist prose. Elements such as trials, accusations, and investigative processes serve as tools to reveal the characters’ inner conflicts, highlight moral and social issues, and portray the tension between justice, law, and ethics. The study analyzes these motifs in relation to character psychology, plot development, and authorial perspective, outlining their role within the poetics of realism.
