This article analyzes the scientific and theoretical foundations of the concepts of foreign and domestic investment and their significance in a market economy. It examines the economic and legal nature of investment, distinguishes between investors and entrepreneurs, and considers key aspects of investment relations. Based on international legal instruments and bilateral investment treaties, the study highlights the role of foreign investment as a source of external financing. The findings contribute to the theoretical development of investment law and the improvement of legal regulation of investment activities.
