THE IDEOLOGICAL AND THEMATIC ESSENCE OF OMAR KHAYYAM POETRY AND ITS INTERPRETATION IN TRANSLATION

This article analyzes the philosophical and artistic features of the rubaiyat of Umar Xayyom and examines the issue of content–form balance in their English translations based on a conceptual-semantic approach. The study highlights universal themes in the poet’s quatrains, such as the transience of life, life and death, the central position of human beings in existence, and the philosophy of happiness and conscious living. Particular attention is given to English interpretations, especially those by Edward FitzGerald, demonstrating that translators primarily preserved the philosophical core, while poetic structure and symbolic layers were occasionally simplified. The paper also evaluates the semantic density of the rubai genre and its reception in both Eastern and Western literary contexts through comparative and analytical methods. The findings confirm that Umar Khayyam’s rubaiyat represent a complex and multilayered object of study in translation studies and literary scholarship.
