COMPARATIVE FEATURES OF LINGUISTIC MODELS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEKISTAN EPICS

Abstract

This article presents a comparative study of linguistic models in English and Uzbek epic texts. The research focuses on how epics in both traditions are organized through stable linguistic patterns at lexical, morphological, syntactic, and pragmatic levels. Particular attention is paid to formulaic diction, repetition, parallelism, and symmetric constructions as mechanisms of oral composition and memorability, as well as to the role of tense–aspect forms in representing epic time. The paper also examines expressive vocabulary, evaluative epithets, and naming patterns (hero nomination) as tools for character construction and cultural coding. The findings suggest that English epics tend to employ more compact, analytically structured models (short formulaic frames, concise dialogue patterns), whereas Uzbek epics more frequently use expanded parallel structures, affixal derivation, and culturally marked formulaic blocks that intensify epic pathos and collective identity. The study argues that the observed differences reflect both typological features of the languages and distinct epic-poetic worldviews, and it proposes a set of comparative parameters for further epic discourse research.
