EPIK BATTLE COMPOSITIONS AND LANDSCAPE SKETCHES IN THE DOSTONI VARIANTS OF “MALLA MERCHANT”

The article analyzes issues of the battle tableau (the batal genre), landscape depiction, and the sketch-like stylistics of artistic language in the variants of the epic “Malla Savdogar” performed by the bard Jora Eshmirza ogli. In the course of the study, battle and confrontation episodes within the epic’s plot are examined, along with the functional role of natural landscapes and the features of concise yet vivid imagery characteristic of bardic performance. Through the battle tableau, themes of heroism, courage, and socio-ethical oppositions are articulated, while landscape sketches are shown to intensify the emotional and philosophical layers of the narrative. The article provides a scholarly and theoretical account of the place of epic representational devices within the ideological and artistic system of the epic.
