Uzbekistan has a rich heritage formed at the crossroads of ancient civilizations. Its geographical location on the Great Silk Road has led to the existence of architectural ensembles, architectural monuments, crafts and oral traditions of great historical significance. Uzbekistan's cooperation with UNESCO has been developing steadily since the first years of independence. The inclusion of the historical centers of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shakhrisabz in the World Heritage List has made it possible to promote the country's rich cultural heritage on an international scale.
