THE HISTORY OF THE NOTION OF PRECEDENCE IN LINGUISTICS AND ITS ROLE IN LINGUOCULTUROLOGY

Abstract

This article discusses the history of the concept of precedence, which secured a relatively new definition in linguistics "precedent phenomenon" followed by other identical concepts, such as "precedent text", "precedent name", "precedent expression" and "precedent situation". Following from this, in this article the term "precedent" is compared on the basis of three languages: Uzbek, Russian and English, using several types of dictionaries. Several examples of references to precedent phenomena are shown. The found definitions of precedence are subjected to comparative analysis. In conclusion, the article draws general conclusions and, in our opinion, the most optimal value of precedence.
