Abstract

in the given article was analyzed the history of the portrait genre, the stages of its development and its place in the visual arts. In this article was also noted that the art of portraiture, in addition to expressing a person's appearance, reflects their spiritual interests and worldview through their image. Master artists who have created in the genre of portraiture receive information about the full interpretation of legendary, lyrical, psychological, and human qualities in their famous works.
