FACTORS AFFECTING INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGIONAL ECONOMY (ON THE EXAMPLE OF KHORESM REGION)

This article analyzes the factors influencing industrial structural changes in ensuring the sustainable development of regional economies, using Khorezm Region of Uzbekistan as a case study. The relevance of this research lies in the fact that industrial restructuring serves as a key determinant of qualitative economic growth and regional competitiveness.Based on data from the State Statistics Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Khorezm Regional Department of Statistics for 2023–2025, the study examines the dynamics of industrial output, the growth in the number of enterprises, and sectoral structural shifts. The analysis focuses on the impact of investment inflows, infrastructure development, technological modernization, labor potential, the formation of regional clusters, and export orientation on qualitative industrial transformation.The results indicate that industrial production in Khorezm Region has been growing steadily year by year, yet the share of high-technology sectors remains low. Achieving sustainable regional growth requires deepening structural diversification, improving the efficiency of local resource utilization, and promoting innovation-based industries. The paper concludes with strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing investment activity, accelerating technological modernization, developing cluster systems, and expanding export-oriented industrial sectors.
