This article presents a comparative study on the scientific aspects of opportunities for women to access higher education in the Samarkand region and the factors that hindered them during the second half of the 20th century. The study highlights Soviet policies in the early years aimed at involving women in social life, campaigns to eliminate illiteracy, and changes in the admission system of higher education institutions. At the same time, it examines how traditional social norms, patriarchal environments, economic difficulties, and cultural stereotypes limited women’s opportunities to receive an education.
