Abstract

This article is focused on analyzing the differences between paralinguistic devices conveyed through somatic expressions in Uzbek and English cultures. The study examines the emotional states of the characters and how these states are expressed through somatic expressions by comparing the original Uzbek text of Abdulla Qahhor's story "Anor" and its English translation by Shavkat Sattorov. The research findings indicate that in Uzbek culture, somatic expressions play a significant role in conveying emotions more precisely and deeply, whereas in the English translation, these expressions are often generalized and softened. This article emphasizes the importance of understanding the cultural context of paralinguistic devices and the need to consider cultural and emotional differences in the translation process.
