Abstract

In the context of world literature, the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century are recognized as the period of flourishing critical realism. This period is characterized by historical and social environments, the transition from capitalism to imperialism, the intensification of colonial policies, and global conflicts leading to World War I. Representatives of critical realism aimed to depict social inequality, oppression, and horrors in a variety of literary genres shaped by different political and cultural environments. The comparative study of their works, exploring their socio-political and philosophical views, is one of the urgent issues of contemporary comparative literary studies.
