Abstract

This article presents a theoretical analysis of literary and linguistic terms from Chris Baldick’s “The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms” based on a lingvo-semantic approach. The study focuses on the semantic, etymological, cultural, and functional aspects of terms located at the intersection of literary studies and linguistics. Special emphasis is placed on French-derived terms – différance, discours, écriture, récit, oeuvre, philosophes – and their interpretation within the frameworks of post-structuralism and linguocultural theory. Key concepts such as metaphor, irony, alliteration, stream of consciousness, sonnet, tragedy, phoneme, morpheme, syntax, speech act, semantics, and lexis are also examined for their roles in literary and cultural discourse.
