Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the impact of digital educational environments on the technological competence of future engineers and identify ways to effectively develop it. The study was conducted using mixed methods. A quantitative analysis was conducted using a survey of 450 engineering students, while a qualitative analysis involved in-depth interviews with 24 professors and instructors and 36 students. A special testing system was developed to assess digital competence. According to the study results, the technological competence of students studying in a digital educational environment is 34% higher than that of their peers studying traditionally. The most effective tools were interactive simulators (89%), virtual laboratories (85%), and gamification elements (78%).
