The purpose of this article is to conduct a comparative linguopragmatic analysis of the translations of historical and archaic words used in the famous documentary-historical novel Tamburlaine the Conqueror, written by the English writer Hilda Hookham, as well as to discuss the main principles of literary translation. The skill of translators is determined by analyzing the equivalence or adequacy of the translation, as well as the preservation and conveyance of the Timurid era’s atmosphere.
